First, just a thank you to everyone that is following our journey. We have received many comments from you telling us that you are enjoying our posts. That makes us very happy! Hopefully we are inspiring many of you to ‘enjoy your dash’ too.
As we have been traveling, we have learned many things. Some are Motorhome/RV specific, but many are transferrable to any kind of travel. We have compiled a list to share with everyone.
The dishwasher has a lock. It is best that you read the directions and learn how to lock it, so that it won’t fly open when you make a turn.
Make sure the lock for the refrigerator doors works and make sure you lock them on travel days.
If a drawer, refrigerator doors, or the dishwasher is going to fly open, it will happen at the most inconvenient time, like when you are in the middle of city traffic. It also means that you failed to follow your pre-travel checklist!
Always make sure that the gray and black tank valves are closed when you leave the dump station or your campsite.
Don’t leave the strainers in the sink when traveling. When you get set up at the next site, the sink will fill up when the water is turned on if you left the faucet on.
Unlevel campsites are not a lot of fun.
Motorhome driving is a team sport. One person is focused on the road and the other person is providing information on road construction, navigation, fuel stops, speed limit changes, wind speeds and direction, oncoming ramp traffic, and of course stock market activity.
Our country is absolutely beautiful. See as much of it as you can.
Driving a 38′ x 13′ foot Motorhome in a cross wind is an adventure and requires total focus.
Traveling has its challenges. Complement each other often, everyone is doing their best.
Road quality varies greatly. Some states get a 10 rating on maintaining their roads others get a 2.
Everything tastes better cooked on the griddle.
Having a shower that is big enough for the Finance Guy to actually use, onboard WIFI, and your own washer and dryer makes for a whole different camping experience.
Yellowstone is breathtaking. See it if you can. The Badlands are amazing, see it at sunrise if you can.
The best place to eat is outside.
The states in the west are much dryer than Florida. Your skin, hair, and nose will feel very dry. Double up on your moisturizer!
We have seen a lot and we have learned at lot. Mostly we have learned that ‘Life is a Journey, not a Destination’!
All of those sound like very sound advice! This is a beautiful country seeing it as you drive from shore to shore is a journey all should experience.
It is good for the soul!
Playing catch up on your posts. Love this one! The memories you’re making are wonderful! I’m sure “in the moment” these situations were not funny, but I’m sure you can laugh about them now. I can’t wait until we’re back down to hear all of the stories – with all of the details. All great tips!
After we left Wyoming, we had several more National Parks on our list.
